Privacy Policy
How Light Astra handles the information you share through this website and by email, and what the site does not collect.
Overview
Light Astra is the web-development work of Duong Nguyen, based in the Boise, Idaho area, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information the website at lightastra.com handles, what it does not collect, and what happens to the details you send me when you ask for a quote, book a consultation or get in touch about a project.
Light Astra is one person. Throughout this policy, "I" and "me" mean Duong Nguyen, the person responsible for the information described here. Light Astra is based in the United States, so the inquiries I receive are read and handled there.
The Terms of Service cover the use of the website and the services themselves.
The short version
- This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and it stores nothing in your browser.
- The site's own code does not collect or send any information about your visit. Once the site is hosted, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs (see Information collected automatically).
- The quote form and the client support form do not send anything to a server. They prepare an email in your own email app, and nothing leaves your device until you press send there.
- The only information I receive is what you choose to email me. I use it to reply to you, prepare your quote or consultation, and work on your project.
- I do not sell your information. You can ask me at any time to tell you what I hold about you, correct it or delete it.
Information you give me
The only personal information I receive through this website is what you decide to send me. There are no accounts, no logins and no payments on the site.
The quote form
The form on the quote page offers two request types, a project quote and a consultation, and asks for:
- your name and email address;
- your business or organization;
- your existing website, if you have one;
- the service you need, your desired timeline and your budget;
- what you need, and anything else you want me to know, such as colors, websites you like or the feeling you want;
- for a business app or internal system, what it should help your business do, how many employees will use it, and the system you use today;
- for a consultation, your preferred days and times.
Only your name, your email address, the service you need and a description of what you need are required (for a business app or internal system, also what it should do and how many employees will use it). Everything else is optional, and you decide how much to share.
The form works differently from most website forms. It does not send your answers to a server, and nothing you type is stored on the website. When you press the submit button, your browser checks that the required fields are filled in, then opens your own email app with a message to lightastra.web@gmail.com already written out, one line for each field you completed, including the request type you chose. Nothing leaves your device until you press send in your email app. If you close the message without sending it, I never see it.
If your email app does not open, the page offers to copy the message or my email address so you can send it yourself, and it offers an "Open in Gmail" button. That button opens Google's Gmail compose page so you can send the message from your own Gmail account. Gmail is a Google service covered by Google's own privacy policy (see Third-party services and links), and it opens only if you click it.
The form also contains a hidden field that real visitors never see or fill in. It exists only to help tell automated spam submissions apart from real ones, and it is never included in the email.
The client support form
The form on the client support page is for people whose project I have already built. It asks for:
- your Client ID and Project ID, if you have them;
- your name and your company or organization;
- the email address your project was set up with (your registered email);
- your website or project address, and the page the request is about;
- the kind of request (a content update, something not working, a new feature, a design change, a security concern, hosting or domain, maintenance, or other) and its priority (normal, important, or website or service down);
- a description of what needs attention.
Only your name, your registered email, the kind of request and the description are required. Your Client ID and Project ID (they look like LA-C1027 and LA-P2048) only help me find the right project. They are identifiers, not passwords or login details: entering one does not verify who you are and unlocks no private information. Support requests are matched to the email address registered with your project, and I may ask you to write from that address before I act on a request.
The support form works exactly like the quote form: nothing is sent to a server and nothing you type is stored on the website. It opens your own email app with the request written out, offers the same copy and "Open in Gmail" fallbacks, and contains the same hidden spam field. Nothing leaves your device until you press send.
Never send passwords, private keys, API secrets, payment credentials or recovery codes through the form or by email. If access is needed to carry out a request, I will arrange a secure way to share it.
Email you send me
Whether you use the form or write to me directly, your message arrives as an ordinary email in the Gmail mailbox for lightastra.web@gmail.com. I receive your email address, the text you wrote and any files you attach. Google is the email service provider that stores those messages.
If you and I go on to work together, most of the project runs over email too: content, feedback, approvals and questions. I keep that correspondence as described under How long I keep information.
What I collect, why, and for how long
| What | Why I use it | How long I keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Your name and email address | To reply to you and address you properly. | As long as needed to respond and, if you become a client, to deliver and support your project; then as part of reasonable business records. Deleted earlier if you ask. |
| Your business or organization, and your existing website | To understand who the website is for and to look at your current site. | Same as above. |
| Request type, the service you need, desired timeline, budget, for a business app its purpose, how many employees will use it and your current system, and, for a consultation, preferred days and times | To understand what you are asking for, to prepare a quote that fits, or to arrange a consultation. | Same as above. |
| What you need, and anything else you add (such as colors, websites you like or the feeling you want) | To understand your project, to prepare a proposal with scope, quote and timeline estimate and, if you go ahead, to plan the work. | Same as above. |
| For a support request: your Client ID and Project ID, your registered email, your website and the page involved, the kind of request, its priority and your description | To find the project the request belongs to, to confirm that the request comes from the email address registered with it, and to carry out the work. The IDs identify a project; they do not verify who you are. | Same as above. |
| Anything else you include in an email, including attachments | To respond to your message and to do the work you ask for. | Same as above. |
Information collected automatically
By the website itself: none
This is a static website made of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Its own code does not collect, record or send any information about you or your visit, and it does not contact any third-party service in the background.
Hosting provider logs
A hosting provider has not yet been chosen for this site. When the site is hosted, the hosting provider may keep standard server logs as part of running its servers. Such logs usually include your IP address, your browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request. I will update this policy to name the hosting provider, and to describe how its logs are handled, once a provider is chosen.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies or anything like them. Specifically, there are:
- no cookies set by the site;
- no analytics or visitor statistics;
- no advertising and no tracking pixels;
- no third-party scripts and no embedded social media widgets;
- no requests to Google Fonts or any other font service; the fonts are hosted with the site itself;
- nothing stored in your browser; the site does not use local storage or similar features.
There is nothing to accept or opt out of. If any of this ever changes, this policy will say so first (see Changes to this policy).
How I use your information
I use the details you send me only to:
- reply to your message and answer your questions;
- prepare your quote: a proposal with scope, quote and timeline estimate, based on what you tell me about your business or idea, your goals and your preferences;
- arrange a consultation, if that is what you asked for, using the days and times you suggested;
- if you decide to go ahead, deliver and support your project, including any website care plan you have agreed with me;
- keep reasonable business records of inquiries and projects.
Your details are used only to respond to your request and to do the work you ask for. I do not use them for newsletters or marketing, and I do not add you to any mailing list.
When information is shared
I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Your information is shared only in these limited situations:
- Service providers that make the work possible. Your messages are stored by Google, because inquiries arrive in a Gmail mailbox. When the site is hosted, the hosting provider may keep the server logs described above. These providers handle information under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements. I may disclose information if the law requires it, for example to comply with a valid legal request.
I do not give your information to anyone else without your permission.
Third-party services and links
Gmail and Google
Google is involved in two ways. First, my mailbox is a Gmail account, so every email you send me is stored by Google. Second, the "Open in Gmail" button on the quote and client support pages opens Google's Gmail compose page, but only if you click it. If you use your own email app instead, this site makes no request to Google at all. How Google handles your information is described in Google's Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).
Links to other websites
The site links to websites I have worked on (Ethos A.I and Ethos Empire) and to Light Astra's Instagram profile, @lightastra.web, which is Light Astra's only social profile. Those links open only if you click them, and nothing from Instagram or any other service is embedded in this site. Those sites and services are run by others and have their own privacy policies, which I do not control. This policy covers lightastra.com only.
How long I keep information
I keep inquiries and project correspondence for as long as I need them to:
- respond to your message;
- deliver and support your project, including any website care plan; and
- keep reasonable business records, for example of what was quoted and agreed.
If you sent an inquiry and nothing came of it, you can ask me to delete it at any time by emailing lightastra.web@gmail.com. If you are or were a client, I may need to keep some records of the project, but I will delete what I reasonably can when you ask.
Security
I take reasonable measures to protect the information I hold. The website itself stores no information about you, and the messages you send me are kept in the email account described above.
Still, no method of sending information over the internet or storing it electronically is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security. No website or security service can guarantee prevention of every cyberattack or compromise.
Your choices and rights
Your choices
- You can browse the whole website without giving me any information.
- You decide what to put in the form and in your email. Only a few fields are required.
- Nothing is sent until you press send in your email app. You can review or change the message first, or decide not to send it at all.
- You can skip the form and email me directly instead.
Your rights
You can email me at any time to:
- ask what information I hold about you;
- ask me to correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- ask me to delete your inquiry or other information about you.
Send requests to lightastra.web@gmail.com. I may ask you to write from the email address you used originally so I can be sure the request comes from you. Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you additional rights, and I will honor those rights as the law requires.
Children
This website is for people and businesses looking for web-development services. It is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent me personal information, please email me and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy as the website or the services change. The dates at the top show the current version. If a change affects how your information is handled in a significant way, it will be explained here before it takes effect.
Features that may be added later
Right now the website is deliberately simple. Some things may be added in the future, and each of them would change how information is handled:
- A form backend that stores quote and consultation requests in a database instead of, or as well as, opening your email app.
- A client support system that receives support requests, verifies client accounts and assigns ticket numbers. Until it exists, the support form only prepares an email and no ticket number is created.
- Website analytics to understand how the site is used.
- Payment processing for projects or website care plans.
None of these is in use today. Before any of them is used, I will update this policy to explain what information is involved, who processes it and how long it is kept.
